Some of you have been asking us for more details, so we decided to prepare a BrOADER[view] with Christian, one of the man behind the concept.
In this ITW, you’ll learn more about Christian, his background and you’ll get deeper in KaOrigin’s offer. Here @ BrOADER we are really excited to see and ride the result. For sure we will plan a BrOADER[TV] episode later this year to show you the products and maybe a little part of their secret and patented industrial tool.

I know you for years now and let me tell you that it’s a lot of fun to make this BrOADER[view] with you.
OK let’s begin then. What’s written on you ID?
I lost my ID 2 years ago…What do you want to know exactly…? My name? Christian ALARY – 29 years-old – Saint Pierre de Chartreuse – France

You’ve worked for Rossignol a few years. What was your job there?
I was in charge of the research and innovation department. Our goal was to imagine, develop and test the next innovations for Rossi. We started by identifying needs of the consumer, need of performance, need of simplicity…then thinking and concreting solutions.

Finally you decided to jump out of the boat just a few months after Quik bought the PMC. Why?
When you are an engineer, it’s a dream for you working for Rossi and to be the Rossi Research manager…
If I decided to leave Rossi, it wasn’t because of Quik, it was because I was thinking my job for Rossi was over. There was something else to do. Rossi is a beautiful brand, I still like it today.

And then began the Hiona Inspiration project. How was it and how did you come to the KaOrigin concept?
And here comes an opportunity, Jacques, former director R&D decided to leave Rossi, he wanted to create its own company. I followed him in this project and together we founded Hiona Inspiration, our aim was to develop new concept for sport brands.
And the first concept we developed wasn’t for a brand but for us: KaOrigin.
Working on a new way of decorating hardgoods products, we have found out a new technology with a high potential. We kept it for us and decided to found KaOrigin company.

Tell us a little more about this concept ?
KaOrigin is a website where you can choose your graphic design for your ski, snowboard and helmet. We have got about 200 original designs made by independent designers. You can also send us your own design.

Why is it so different from other PIMP my board stuff ?
Firstly because we can design helmet and we are the only company able to do that by this particular way. Then because we do not decorate our own new brand, which could have became the best of the world but with a huge amount of time,
but boards and skis from 4 great companies:Rossi (of course), Dynastar, Zag and Blacksmith.
Finally because of delivery time: 72h between order and delivery and we can guarantee a level of quality as high as the original product.

Go to our web site www.kaorigin.com, it will open on 1st November. Choose your brand and product model, look for your graphic design or send yours, then order! Not too difficult?

Can I get my own deck and my own design?
Your own deck, not for the moment, soon… But your own design no problem…

How much will it cost me to customize a board?
100€ more than the shop price for a series model.

Where can we see a demonstration or prototypes?
Mondial du ski in les 2 Alpes (sorry, we won’t be at Mondial du snowboard this year)
