NITRO SNOWBOARDS

In addition to their snowboard line, Nitro continues to bring out their snowboard outerwear and their prepeared amazing collection for 2013. You need to see this!

What is different for 2013? New ideas, new materials, new technology?

  • Different for 2012/13 is that we have segmented Nitro into 2 groupings, Modern, and Substance. We felt there was a need for the emerging market to have some more variety in styling since we appeal to just a broad market. In Modern we have all our new developments, such as the HD hood, Removable face mask, Headphone hood pockets, and Recycled fabrics. In Substance we feature our tried and true classic styles.

General inspiration for 2013 Outerwear collection?

  • Our team inspires us to create snowboard outerwear that can take the punishment of someone who snowboards all day all year. They are also on the edge of the market and see the trends happen on the hills faster than any of us sitting at the office.

What is the most excited thing/model in upcoming collection? Why?

  • I would say the collection as a whole, it is more complete than ever before. Every style is different from the next and offers something exciting for the consumer it was meant for.

What kind of fits will you be using? Something different than last year?

  • In Nitro we have our Fusion fit which is not too baggy and not too tight. We have a loose fit, and slim fit pant in Nitro Womens, and also some slimmer jackets in Nitro Modern.

What colors and prints will we find in 2013 collection?

  • Nitro features your CMYK colors and also new alternative colors such as burnt orange, gold, coffee, and lemonade. We also have the Oak camo print exclusively in 1 jacket, its a super special fabric that goes through 8 different printing and embossing processes.

Any secrete formula in girl’s collection?

  • Nitro women’s  is one of our fastest growing collections. The female buyer always needs 3 things, Fit, styling and price. Women’s outerwear needs to have unique style and have personality then you have a successful collection.

Which is the most hightech material in 2013 line? Why is better than the rest of materials that you are using for 2013?

  • Our most high tech material is our 3 layer Ripstop and 3 layer Recycled poly. It is 15k/15k 3 layer laminate with a brushed tricot backing. It’s our most technical fabric, and has to be worn with the proper layers. Good thing we offer 1st layers and 2nd layers now. It is the best because it has the highest waterproof / breathability rating, and also the most expensive fabric.

Will we find any eco-friendly materials? What is the difference between eco friendly product and a normal one?

  • We have a couple of eco friendly options. We have our recycled polyester which is 40% post consumer recycled polyester. We just liked how this fabric looked and it was a bonus that it was Eco. We don’t offer full eco stories, we just choose eco when there is no price difference. We also use Primaloft Eco which uses 50% post consumer recycled polyester for insulation. Its one of the best synthetic insulations on the market and also there is no price difference between Eco and non-Eco, so it just makes sense. Its about having the choice without having to pay more for Eco products.

Should we only have eco friendly collections? Would we change something with this?

  • Only if the whole market decides to go Eco. We can always do more to help the environment, like drive less and walk more. I recommend anyone who is interested in eco friendly to read the book “Let my people go Surfing” by Yvonne Chouinard, its the guy who started Patagonia. He talks about the perils of running a world wide distributed company and trying to make it “Eco”
