Last weekend, there was a big bang at the Dachstein. Not as loud as THE big bang and its theory, but way louder than Felix Baumgartner’s bang in breaking the sound barrier. The reason for the fuss: an action shooting at which an armada of snowboarders stomped one trick after the other on the kickers, rails and boxes of the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein!

Last Saturday, the Dachstein saw some massive action! The weather gods created the perfect setting for a monumental action shooting at the Superpark Dachstein, dipping the landscape in a golden veil of awesomeness. No obstacle was spared from the shred-action when numerous snowboarders rocked the legendary glacier park by every trick in the book. Among them were Flo Galler, Anja Stefan, Herby Thaler, Georgi Mihailov and Kathi Gappmayer. A recipe for finest riding action!

In the battle between rims and metal, the pro rail line and boxes line was attacked first. Then the pro kicker line, with its three takeoffs of 12-16m and the 10m funbox, caught the attention of the riders. The pros did not only push each other to a new riding level, but also offered high-class freestyle action to those relaxing in the chill area!

The park setup, especially the quality of the obstacles at the Horsefeathers Superpark, was very popular that day. Park designer Andi Röck: “Once again, the feedback from the riders was extremely positive this autumn! Mainly because a lot of the riders seem to be getting that we don’t have as much snow as in the last years, and they are quite thrilled accordingly. It’s a shame that it wasn’t enough for a real pro rail line but I really hope that the rail line in the beginner park with a 8m down rail, a 10m down-flat-down rail and a 4m close-out rail will make up for it.”

There’s no doubt that the shape crew at the Horsefeathers Superpark Dachstein has definitely pulled a hell of a job in creating an awesome park. At the Dachstein, the job of a shaper has more to it than the usual shaper activities! The numerous birds, jackdaws to be more specific, constantly tout for attention and feed at the chill area, and they get cheekier every day. Whether that’s part of the shape crew’s job description remains open for discussion. Anyway, according to Andi Röck, the official goal is to divert the birds’ attention away from the snacks, and thus prevent the theft of the precious food. So far, this endeavor has been unsuccessful, says Andi Röck.
