20cm of fresh snow, bad sight and strong snowfalls! One of two looks for powder the other one stays in bed – but not the 50 motivated snowboarders of the QParks Tour stop Blue Tomato Plan P! First they defied the predicted end of the world, then the weather and showed freestyle action at its best at the Superpark Planai!

One day after the supposed Armageddon, the same atmosphere dominated the morning of the QParks Tour stop Blue Tomato Plan P at the Superpark Planai. Fog and strong snowfalls reduced visibility, difficult conditions during the qualifications. The contest setup, consisting of 4 different jib and kicker obstacles in a row, was hardly to see and riders could no better than guess the outlines of the obstacles. But nevertheless more than 50 top motivated snowboards aged between 12 and more than 30 years came to the Superpark Planai and showed that the weather isn’t the most important thing when it comes to freestyle. Having a good time with friends and shredding together a pre-Christmas contest, that’s what it was all about.

The good mood of the riders had an effect on the weather – exact for the finals it cleared up and the view got better. Hence the cards in the finals got reshuffled, the best 8 Snowboard Men as well as the best 4 Rookies and Girls battled for the total price money of EUR 1.500.-.

Also the snowboard finals were thrilling. At the end the Roland Hörtnagl from Innsbruck could win ahead of the Slovenian Aljosa Krivec and the local hero Viktor Szigeti. At the girls category a well-known face rolled up the starter field from behind. Kathrin “Kathl” Gappmayr from Salzburg showed once more that she is still on fire and ensured the victory in the well-staffed girls category. 15-years old local Alois Lindmoser won with outstanding performance the Rookie category.
