The Oakley Snowboard Talent Days have literally been swallowed by powder! Fresh snow and windstorms on the Hanglalm made the planned park sessions impossible – so the Oakley and Planet Sports pros Marco Smolla and Christophe Schmidt just took the young talents for a sweet powder session instead, avalanche workshop included.

Despite the bad weather forecast, all registered snowboarders came to Kitzbühel for the Oakley Talent Day! The journey – some took the Oakley and Planet Sports bus straight from Munich – nevertheless paid off since Christophe Schmidt and Marco Smolla brought another pro with them, namely Tobi Strauss. For safety reasons, the Snowpark Kitzbühel and the park lift unfortunately had to remain closed due to the strong wind and the masses of fresh snow. But that did not stop the highly motivated riders. They started off their shred day on the slopes before they headed for fresh powder, where every possible rim was being used to stomp the finest frontflips and spins into the soft snow!

Though the Oakley pros could not show their skills in the park, they showed to the snowboard talents which equipment items may never be missing on a powder day! Without further ado, an avalanche field was being set out and the participants got a chance to test the avalanche transceivers!

Participant and snowboard enthusiast Martina Zollner about the Oakley Talent Day: “Although it snowed and stormed massively, it was a fun and versatile day on the mountain. Despite the difficult conditions, the coaches and the organizers have done an outstanding job in organizing an unforgettable day for the riders.”

At the end of the day and after enjoying well-deserved refreshments at the lodge, all participants received Oakley and Planet Sports goodies! Bright faces in spite of bad weather and a closed park – the pro coaches and talents spent a fine shred day together and had tons of fun!
